Essentials Dinner for all the volunteer children and youth workers in our churches

A fantastic evening was had by all at our first Essentials Dinner in the Diocese.

This evening was to say a  huge thank you to all of our wonderful and very talented people we have working tirelessly in our churches with the children and young people.

There was a great buzz to the evening as 60 of us got together to celebrate and eat together . . . all put on by the Down and Dromore youth, children and families department aka Brandy, Julie and Tim.

A canapé reception welcomed everyone into the parish centre at Belvoir parish, with a little glass of red or white  . . . . shloer!! (of course!)

Then coming into the main hall bedecked with lights and beautifully dressed tables, to sit down to a three course meal:

starter: fanned melon and summer compote with a scoop of lemon sorbet

Main: Tim's amazing chilli beef or chilli beans with tortillas and a variety of salads. A bowl of warm tortilla chips with salsa and melted cheese sat on each table with bowls of guacomole, salsa and grated cheese to get your hands stuck into!

Dessert: aside form Brandy's amazing double decker of toffee and smooth chocolate mousse cake , there was a choice of twelve different desserts . . .  many trying a taste of quite a few!

A few words of thanks from Bishop Harold and Liz and a reminder of the importance of our roles in children and young peoples lives to bring them to a personal relationship with Jesus and to keep ourselves engaged in the ministry God has given us.

Tea & coffee and after dinner mints were provided whilst the entertainment began!!! A very raucous table quiz, which brought out the very dramatic side to everyone!! The Kazoo round will be indelibly etched on our brains and memories forever!

I think everyone can say there was something for everyone.

So thank you for coming and sorry to those of you who couldn't be with us this time but we hope that this will be the start of an annual celebratory dinner for you every year.
