Forge L.I.T.
Leaders in Training is aimed at 17–22 year olds and seeks to grow the faith and skills of young leaders as they continue in their regular volunteering in youth and/or children’s ministry in the Diocese of Down and Dromore. The programme is designed in a flexible way to complement young adults’ existing commitments to work and study, and includes training, mentorship, team activities, and the opportunity to take part in a mission trip in summer 2025.
Forge Apprenticeship
The Ministry Apprenticeship Scheme is a full time, one year programme for Christians aged 18–25. It provides an opportunity for young disciples to work and learn in an apprenticeship model with church leaders and their teams in host churches throughout the diocese.
Apprentices are fully immersed in the ministry life of a local church, with a specific focus on children and youth programmes. Their training will take place on–the–job within their placement church, through diocesan development programmes, and the option of completing an OCN level 2 in Youth Work. As well as practical training, FORGE prioritises the spiritual growth of apprentices through mentoring, Bible study, and prayer.
Young Adults Retreat
On the last weekend in August a group of 18-30 year-olds from throughout the diocese headed to the North Coast for our first ever Young Adults Retreat.
We made the most of the excellent weather with sandcastle competitions, surf lessons and late-night campfires. It was a wonderful weekend for these 35 young adults to build new friendships and community together.
We are planning more young adult social events and retreats which are open to all. Keep an eye on our Instagram page for the latest events or contact us to join our Whatsapp group for upcoming activities.
